Somewhere between 5 and 6 million Americans suffer from a brain injury. While the sources may vary, these injuries often require some level of physical therapy and rehabilitation to regain some or all previous motor functions. Neuro rehabilitation specialists do an incredible job helping their clients recover and regain as much of their motor functions as possible. However, doctors and therapists know all too well that those who suffer from both brain injuries and traumatic brain injuries often experience permanent gait and imbalance issues that increase both the occurrence of and risk for fall related traumatic brain injuries specifically.

Hard interior flooring surfaces installed over rigid subfloors do a great job supporting mobility. However, these hard surfaces represent an undue risk of fall related injury. Viconic Fall Defense flooring underlay was developed to reduce the risk of traumatic brain injuries, along with other injuries, that result from a fall onto a flooring surface. By deploying Fall Defense between the rigid subfloor and a flexible floor covering, the risk of fall related TBI and injury can be substantially reduced. Viconic is working to help neuro rehabilitation specialists and their clients by creating safer surfaces that promote movement and muscle development.

Fall Defense flooring underlay is a relatively new intervention for fall prone individuals. It’s a military grade injury protection system under your feet.
