In concert with the Leading Age 2024 Annual Meeting in Nashville, Viconic held its second in-person Advisory Council meeting. The meeting was well attended, with those who were not in Nashville joining virtually.
Addie Abushousheh (Center for Health Design), Andrew Alden (AG Architecture) Jeffrey Anderzohn (Crepidoma Consulting), Lucy Boxrud (Elysian Senior Homes), Maggie Calkins (Ideas Institute), Dustin Julius (RLPS), Jackie Patterson (Lenhardt Rodgers), Jill Schroeder (BKV Group), Gaius Nelson (Nelson-Tremaine), and Steve Williamson (Gardens Senior Living) all engaged in the fast-moving agenda.
The council was updated on the latest fall data from provider partners who have installed Viconic Fall Defense. Those partners continue to provide essential fall data and feedback on the suites with Viconic installed, along with the “control” group of suites without Viconic. In short, we’re seeing a substantial reduction in minor injuries, severe injuries, and ER visits in suites with Viconic, as evidenced below:
Next, we updated the council on product developments. Two key enhancements make installation easier, better, and less expensive. Substantial progress was made toward zero barrier Fall Defense installation in wet rooms and showers. Some samples were reviewed and discussed with the council and the overall feedback was positive.
We were excited to report that Viconic was nominated as a finalist for a McKnight’s Technology Award with Indiana-based Sanders Glen Senior Living. Our list of provider partners continues to grow as many providers are incorporating Viconic in their new construction and renovation plans based on the overwhelmingly positive fall data and feedback from key stakeholders including nursing, maintenance, and operations.
Marketing was also covered. Viconic updated the council on recent conference appearances including NASVH, Interface SE, and LeadingAge. We discussed three upcoming conferences as well: CFI (Green House/Pioneer Network), ICAA, and Health Care Providers of Minnesota. Our 2025 conference season will begin with both an educational session and booth at the LeadingAge Minnesota Institute, followed by two sessions and a booth at Environments for Aging. Several of our provider, design, and installation partners will be presenting alongside Viconic in the new year. We continue to draw interest from both providers and architects to learn how Viconic can enhance the built environment invisibly. Several provider meetings and education lunches are planned for this quarter and beyond.
Grab bag updates included our new website, blog, social media platforms, and some initial work on a Viconic sport court system for pickleball since roughly 85% of pickleball injuries are fall related. Samples of Viconic with a USPA approved coating were reviewed and discussed.
A special thanks to the advisory council who continue to provide Viconic their time and feedback on all aspects of the product and its application in the built environment and beyond.
