Falls remain one of the leading causes of hospitalization and serious injury among older adults, presenting both clinical and financial challenges for senior care providers. Garden Spot Village, a continuing care retirement community in Pennsylvania, sought a solution that would enhance resident safety without disrupting the aesthetics or function of their living spaces.

The Solution

Early Results
Although the percentage of total falls was higher in the Viconic- equipped rooms, the severity and consequences of those falls were significantly reduced. During the pilot period, there were no severe injuries or ER, visits in the rooms where Viconic was installed.

What’s Next
With strong initial results in skilled nursing, Garden Spot is expanding the system into Memory Care next. Discussions are also underway with the project architect and facilities team to incorporate Viconic into future renovations and new construction plans.
